The Corgi originated in Pembrokeshire thousands of years ago. Their ancestors were taken across the Channel by Flemish weavers during 1107. The earliest ancestors were said to have looked like the old Schipperkes and, possibly, came from the same family that includes the Chow Chow, Pomeranian, Norwegian Elkhound, Finnish Spitz, and the Keeshond.
Strong, sturdy, and low-set, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi seem like plenty of substance in a small area. He is an enthusiastic competitor when it comes to many dog sports, including herding, obedience and conformation. In addition, he is one of the most delightful small house dogs. He is a different breed from the Cardigan Corgi in that he has a shorter body with lighter boned and straighter legs. He has a short tail and pointed erect ears that stand straight up. Their coats come in colors of black, red, tan, fawn and sable. They may or may not have white markings.
Friendly and brave, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi does quite well with training. He adores his human family, but he just might try to herd them. Farms or country homes are perfect for him, but he can easily adjust to any type of living circumstances as long as they receive regular exercise. The grooming routine is made up of frequent brushing. If you are looking for a sweet natured, loving pet for your family, have a look at the following ads for these dogs.
