I am happy to announce the first Podengo Pequeno smooth puppies to be born in Texas. These are a wonderful rare breed in the US with less then 300 currently listed in the AKC-Foundation Stock Service. This breed is a small dog that that ranges from 8 inches to 12 1/2 inches. They make a great family pet but can be wary with strangers. They have to get to know you. Foxie Bonito Foxie De Bramblewood and Fonzie Embolado de Viamonte had 4 pup 2 females and 2 males on Nov 11 2008. 1 MALE IS STILL AVAILABLE The Podengo Pequeno is a small primitive hound that was developed and is still used to hunt rabbits in packs or individually in its native Portugal. Although they resemble terriers they are NOTHING like a terrier. They are Hounds and they will come back unlike most hounds. They are designed to run over rock piles and under thick brush where the larger sized Podengo Medio/Grandes cannot. These dogs also come in wire hair and 2 other sizes medio and grande. I currently have a wire litter with 2 females and 1 male see other ad and another litter due the end of January my last litter for this year. Because this is a very rare breed world wide and little sizes tend to be small 2 to 4 pups per litter females are rarely available. Most breeders keep females for future breeding stock or they prefer to place them with other breeders/show homes. If you are lucky to find a female available expect to pay a higher price for one or expect other breeder terms.
