About the Great Dane
The Great Dane, also known as the ‘Apollo of Dogs,’ descends from hunting dogs of the Middle Ages. Originally used to hunt bears, wild boar, and deer, these imposing dogs were also guardians of German nobility. Standing as tall as 32 inches at the shoulder, they are one of the two largest dog breeds globally, alongside the Irish Wolfhound. Despite their massive size, Great Danes are swift, alert, and courageous, making them both impressive and friendly companions. Learn more
