About the Pug
Pugs, those delightful little companions, have a rich history. Originating in China, they’ve been around since at least 400 B.C., making them one of the oldest dog breeds. Initially bred as lap dogs for Chinese emperors, Pugs don’t require as much exercise as some other breeds. Their wrinkled faces are a badge of honor, intentionally created by Chinese breeders to resemble the character for ‘prince.’ These loyal pups have even saved lives—like Pompey, who thwarted an assassination attempt on Prince William of Orange. From royalty to celebrities, Pugs have left their paw prints on history. Learn more
