Originally, English Springer Spaniels were born in the same litters with Cocker Spaniels. The smaller dogs hunted birds and the larger dogs were used to flush out game. The English Springer Spaniels were recognized by the Kennel Club in England during 1902 as a separate breed from the English Cockers. Once Field Trial Association for English Springer Spaniels was formed North America during 1924 they become even more well-known.
This breed has plenty of style and enthusiasm to go along with an eagerness to please quality that most spaniels possess. One of his most outstanding abilities is that he can keep going no matter how difficult the hunting conditions may be that they find themselves a part of. This is partially because of his medium size and powerful body. The English Springer Spaniel has long and hanging ears to go with a fairly long coat. His color may be black and white, liver and white, liver, roan, blue or tri-color.
Springers are affectionate and happy dogs that adore their human families and are more comfortable in remaining close to them. They are amazing pets but must be exercised daily as well as brushed and trimmed so that their coats can remain neat and mat-free. If these beautiful dogs inspire you in some way, then they just might be the perfect pet for you and your family.
